Up here for auction is a vintage Parker “51” Double Jewel Mark I series fountain pen, which was manufactured in USA circa 1950s. The size of this Parker 51 is large, with overall length near 5-3/8 inches. The Parker “51” went into production in 1941, and remained a best-seller for decades thereafter. Perhaps no other fountain pen has been so unanimously acclaimed as a classic. Nor is it merely a triumph of styling – though it has a place in the Museum of Modern Art’s design collection, and Lazlo Moholy-Nagy found it worthy of praise – for it is also one of the most robust and practical writing instruments ever made. This stylish Parker “51” is a RARE AND HIGHEST GRADE of the series, with double-jewel / twin-tassie Mark I series. It has been manufactured in classic color – red burgundy celluloid material. The cap is in 1/10 16K gold filled, in excellent condition, WITHOUT any damages, dings, dents. At the bottom of the cap is art-deco embossing “feather/Chevron” cap band, with imprint ‘1/10 16K GOLD FILLED MADE IN U.S.A.’. On the pocket clip is a blue diamond, representing Parker’s lifetime warranty. The vacumatic filling system is in working order. This Parker “51” has a classic elegance and has been produced to the highest standards of craftsmanship, technology and aesthetics.
